Children’s Service

The Hamlet Centre is well known in Norfolk for its services for children with disabilities and is now located in Vauxhall Street, Norwich NR2 1SJ. . We have been described by a senior member of staff at Social Services as ‘a centre of excellence’. A lively, committed and talented staff team brings a wide variety of exciting activities to the children.Click here for link to our last Ofsted report.

Toy Library at the new building in Vauxhall Street loans toys to families and professionals to support physical, intellectual, emotional and social areas of development. These are for all children and young people with a disability and all children under the age of five.

Mobile Toy Library by taking our bus on the road we can extend our Toy Library Service to families, Special Schools, Children’s Centres, Nurseries and Playgroups in Norwich and surrounding areas.

Early Support Opportunities Groups provide fun and educational experiences for children aged up to 5 years, and support for families. This inclusive group caters for children with disabilities alongside their mainstream peers.

Soft Play Room provides a variety of opportunities for physical play – this service is available to all our children and young people.

Holiday Short Breaks – for children with a complex health need run in school holidays and ten Saturdays throughout the year. These give children who find it most difficult to access mainstream activities a chance to enjoy time with their friends while their families enjoy a break.

Summer Short Break Playschemes held in August for children with disabilities are full of stimulating activities backed up by high quality care. Children have a great time whilst their families enjoy a break.

Summer Short Break Transition for children who are moving on to Adult Services to help them make their own choices and learn lifeskills to support their future independence.

Youth Club – a Short Break project for young people providing social activities three evenings per week on Tuesdays 12 – 15 years, Wednesdays 16 – 18 years and Fridays 8 – 11 years. They provide fun opportunities for young people to socialise outside of school. The young people contribute new ideas for their activity programme which includes visits into the community such as to go bowling or to have a pizza together.
