Early Support Opportunities Group

The Early Support Opportunities Group is open five mornings a week Monday to Friday 10.00am to 12.00pm, during term time only.

The group is registered for 12 children, up to 5 years of age,  per session, a maximum of three children may be under 2 years of age at any one time, with priority being given to children with a disability.

In line with Ofsted requirements we deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage. The overarching aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well-being. Children with complex health needs are provided with personalised equipment to enable them to make active choices in their play using switches and information communication technology.

Children choose from a range of healthy options at snack time such as fresh and dried fruit, raw vegetables, rice cakes and bread sticks. Staff are diligent in ensuring they cater for children’s individual dietary needs and preferences.

Staff are exceptionally skilled at adapting activities to enable all groups of children to reach their full potential. Very high adult to child ratios ensure children are safe and well supported during their play.

Every child is assigned a Key Person who is a trained and experienced member of staff as their key point of contact. They will set individual learning priorities and plan relevant and motivating learning experiences for each child. Their progress will be recorded in their Learning Stories containing photographs and brief notes on their successes and achievements. These will be given to parents so they can be shared with the child’s next setting. The staff ensure children’s transition into their next setting are of the highest quality and are organised around the needs of the child. Children with disabilities will also have detailed Care Pathways to support their transition.
