Holiday Short Break Schemes
The summer short breaks playscheme runs for 4 weeks in the August Summer from 9.30am to 3.30pm:
Mondays – for ages 13 to 18 years, up to 30 places per day
Tuesdays and Thursdays – for ages 9 to 12 years, up to 40 places per day
Wednesdays and Fridays – for ages 3 to 8 years, up to 40 places per day
Costs/Charges: There is a cost of £10.00 per child per day, which does not include lunch. Parents/carers are required to provide a packed lunch for their child.
Children/young people can be referred by parents/carers or in conjunction with health care professionals, school/nursery staff, social services, or any other professional working with the child. Referrals are made by calling 01603 215190 during office hours (Monday – Friday 9am – 4pm) and speaking to Terri or Fiona. Once a referral has been made registration forms are sent to parent/carers for them to provide more information. These forms must be returned before any allocations can be made.
Very high adult to child ratios ensure children are safe and well supported during their play to enable them to make active choices and fully participate in fun, age appropriate activities. Each day a group up to six children are taken on a trip out to Bewilderwood, or the Inspire museum for example.
Summer Short Break Transition
The Transition scheme runs for four weeks in the August summer holiday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. It is for young people aged from fourteen to eighteen years. The young people complete a questionnaire prior to the start of the scheme which forms of an integral part of planning and helps to ensure an individualised programme. It focuses on independent living skills – household tasks, kitchen skills, money management, independent skills, social interaction.
We also encourage the young people to pursue their interests such as Football in the Community, going to restaurants, train journeys, photography projects.
All young people receive high quality care due to the high staff to young people ratios. This ensures they are well supported to make active choices and fully participate in the programme.
Costs / Charges: There is a cost of £10.00 per young person per day, which does not include lunch.
